Eau Claire has a very active Male Chorus of about 70 singers.
I joined some years before I moved away, and, in the end, was
one of the hardest things to give up (along with the Guthrie
Theater tickets).  There was some hamming it up, but in general
much more straight forward choral music, some sacred, some
not.
 
One of their activities was to sing in 2 local churches.  In  those
locations, it was sacred music, of course.  It was a thrill to  have
them march into Christ Church Cathedral's choir stalls at the
Processional, and then fill the church with four part and more
male harmony.
 
There was a lot of comradery, and it was a surprise to discover
how silly a bunch of men can get in a situation like that.
