[Kristin Rollins]

Two words: Exit polls.

Unless the exit polls are close (and risk being wrong), the networks
race to be first with the result. It takes a lot out of
electon-result-watching, but it's the 21st century and I don't see it
ever moving in the direction I'd prefer.
