I agree that it would be great to have Obama on the Supreme Court, but maybe in 5-10 years. And I wish I were as sure as you are that the Dems will retain the White House. Everything is so absolutely crazy about this election that I'm not sure of anything. I mean, who would ever have believed that anyone would take Trump seriously at all...and that they're STILL doing it?! I think Hilary will probably be the Democratic candidate, and she's clearly the best qualified, but a lot of people really don't like her and will vote for anyone else. It also seems that many folks don't care about qualifications at all--they're just attracted by anger and bigotry and who can yell the loudest and appeal to their worst fears. How else do you explain Trump and Cruz? I think Bush and Kasich would probably do the least damage as a Republican president, but I'm not sure either of them can get the nomination.
And that's the last political post I'm going to make until we have the VA primary, which I think is March 1st.

My thought exactly. I believe the Dems will take the White House. It would be well to focus on Congressional elections in 2016, with the aim of restoring sanity to the Republican Party by knocking it cross eyed. Get the veterans on side with the Dems and go for high voter turnout among black voters and the young. Then a good Supreme Court nominee could pass without the sort of c**p that this Congress has been indulging in. (I'd love to see Obama on the SCUSA but the poor man needs a break!)
