[Magdalen] Vintner Dies.

Robert Mondavi has died at the age of 101.
 
He is the great pioneer who is mostly responsible for turning 
California's Napa Valley into a world class vineyard region.   His
wines were under the label of "Krug" and "Mondavi"
 
What I didn't know about him is that he was raised in Virginia,
Minnesota in the Iron Range.  It's quite a leap from "Da  Rainche"
to the sceptered sway of the storied Napa.
 
Who'd have thought a guy from Northern Minnesota could become
a grandfather of USA winemaking?
