Your comment brought me up short, Jay, because I hadn't thought about it in terms being the "matriarch," but I guess I arrived there in '99 when my father died. My mother had died in '91. Then my sister died in '04 at the age of 53. That left me. But I can't say I feel very matriarchal...is that even a word? And I certainly don't feel matronly!
