Thanks.  One place I read said that if not that diagnosis, it could be more directly related to diabetes, which I will only know if I have it within the near future when I visit my regular doc and who will run the appropriate bloodwork.  But this doc, knowing I don't know if I'm diabetic yet, hasn't pressed on that idea, and is confident enough to send me to the Stanford specialist whose thing is what he thinks I have.  Besides, even if directly diabetes-related, it is what it specifically is, and the treatment, in my mind, would still be the same, though stemming from a different cause.
