A new caregiver for Wilfred came by this morning.  She is a   pleasant
young lady who is dating seriously a young truck farmer. She will be
here a couple of hours a day six days a week.
 
I was startled to hear her say that she is a native of Rhode Island.
 
She has no trace of that regional accent at all, and when I pointed that  
out,
she admitted hating her Rhode Island regional accent - a sort of  Greater
Boston accent on tough pills.  She has worked to lose it and to take  on
a General American rhotic accent.  She has been very successful  at
this.
