Can't get better than that playlist!

And, you've certainly picked a scenic location for the service!

Subject: [Magdalen] Nice Nephew Surprise

So, for those of you who haven't followed my immediate doings on Facebook,
or whom I failed to adequately inform here which could be most of you,
let's recap. My father as you may recall died in March in Florida, just shy
of 93 years of age. His body was cremated with the plan that we would hold
his memorial service in the summer in Maine where our family have had a
summer home for a century or more. That service and the interment of his
ashes will take place this Saturday (causing me to miss the consecration of
my new bishop, but family takes precedence) and I traveled up here
yesterday. My brother and his wife were already up here and both of his
sons needed to get here along with me. So the three of us all arrived on
the same flight via different connections to Baltimore and I picked up a
rental car in Portland, Maine. From there it's another three hours to
Castine where we are presently (and have been for five generations in one
manner or another).

Now here's the surprise. My younger nephew (18 yrs old) immediately hooked
up his iPhone to the USB port in the rental car, a new feature to me, and
proceeded to play music for our three hour drive. I was unsure what I might
be in for, but lo and behold I was greeted with Miles Davis, Stan Getz,
Charles Mingus, Dave Brubeck, and the like. I don't know where the kid
picked up this taste in music. His father likes good jazz, but that's
usually a source of rebellion in the young. Wherever he acquired his
playlist it was a welcome and joyous surprise to me and made the drive
quite pleasant.
