[Magdalen] How?

According to Google, cheddar cheese contains 174mg of sodium per ounce (one
slice), which is 7% of what you should have each day. So ~14% comes from
that. A package I have of Cabot Extra Sharp Cheddar is pretty much the same.

The turkey also has sodium - 450mg per 2oz. serving - that's 20% right
there. And the sandwich may have more than 2oz. of turkey in it. Most all
deli meats are loaded with salt (sodium chloride), added to help preserve
them.

And bread has a little bit of salt in it, as anyone who makes it would know.
147mg (6%) per 30g slice.

So, it all adds up. Just the above gets up to ~50% of the daily recommended
sodium intake. And, who knows - maybe the sandwich had a whole lot more
turkey, or the tomato was also salted.

If cheese puts a "healthy" sandwich at twice a Big Mac, okay. But I still
don't believe it. Repeat: no condiments!
Hey! The best cheesemaker in Wisconsin is in my hometown:
