Out of 4,000 freshman at UW-Madison in the autumn of 1955, three of
us were from my dinky high school in NW Wisconsin (graduating class
of 50).
 
All three of us were exempted from freshman English.  There were  90
freshman students thus exempted.  I guess it goes to show that small 
isn't necessarily bad.
 
In any case, I was able to pick up a fair sum for proofreading less
lucky freshmen's English papers.
