"Impact," though, has an exact synonym in "affect," and is one of
those word that boring-izes otherwise readable text. It's
corporate-speak.

I know that even synonyms can add subtle shades of meaning, and I
suppose "impact" is meant to sound more damaging than "affect," but
whatever. <yawning...not at you but at boring corporate-speak>
