This term has so many meanings.  In the USA you have on the one  hand
the fundamental Protestants calling themselves "Evangelicals."   On the
other hand you have several Lutheran synods using the term in  their
official names, including the ELCA with which TEC is in full  communion.
(WELS and ELS are two other Lutheran "Evangelical"  synods).
 
Then you have the Anglican use of the term for groups that  seem
to be generally "low church."  TEC might use the term for the  REC.
 
So it's like the expression, "Real Presence" which has a bunch  of
different meanings depending on the group.
