I don't usually click on these side links in Facebook, but this one caught
my eye. Apparently it's a CBS News survey on self reported drinking rates.
All 20 cities listed were in the midwest or northwest of the USA, and 12 of
them were in Wisconsin.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Not surprising, and probably true. The beer consumption, in particular,
has been a source of local pride. That may stem from the heavy German
ethnic makeup of the State. A regular feature of UW-Madison football
games is the playing and singing of the Budweiser jingle.
Big Ten football games at Camp Randall Stadium had become a drunken
display until authorities began a campus-wide effort to curb the excess
which had also spread to such gatherings as graduations.
Wisconsin also has the largest per capita consumption of brandy, but this
is secondary to brandy being substituted in mixed drinks in place of
whiskey.
