After several years of nervous hesitation, I bought my current glasses
online.  I have not had my ophthalmologist check them but they seem okay.

The biggest problem is in fitting the frames.  The optician does this on
delivery.  The online folk just send you instructions on how to do it.
It's a bit tricky.  Since my glasses always get bent out of shape very
quickly, I got them pretty close and settled with that.

I figure I saved several hundred dollars.
