Sounds kind of mean and hard on the poor little kitty.  Just because 
there's another cat in the basement doesn't fix the isolation and loss 
of human contact.  Discarded like yesterday's plaything. Forgive me if 
I'm out of line. I know you're not the prime mover in this.
