A PET scan is not a car wash.

Several people, some of whom are paid astronomical salaries, some of whom
cost the hospital megabucks in training fees, reviewed the results (I
suppose). If they disagreed, the cost goes even higher.

Just be glad you didn't have an anesthesiologist's fees tacked on, because
that's where the big money is.

Hope you can get Stanford to cut you a deal. Don't ask the physician or her
office. She's not the one who's submitting the bill and probably has no say
in it whatsoever. Go straight to the institution's billing office. They
deal with this stuff all the day long.
