I have just heard from Ruth, said Vicar with the following update (with
one obvious typo corrected):
"Roly got to church on Easter Sunday - he is still very determined to
come if he possibly can! He has now had several small strokes.
He dozes more now in the daytime. He is very quiet most of the time and
finds it hard to join in a conversation. He will sometimes suddenly ask
a question or make a statement that shows he has been listening, though
this is often a while after the conversation has moved on to a different
topic."
I am glad that he got to church at Easter but I know how hard it is on
friends and family when a loved one's like is slowly closing in on
them. I can't remember Roland's wife's name but this must be extremely
hard on her, mentally even if not as physically hard as Jim's care for
Marcy has been on him. Life can seem so cruel, especially as we witness
the slow decline of a loved one. Prayers for those who stand, watch and
wait at such a time as well as for those who realise their physocal body
is becoming less able to support their eternal spirit.
Roger
