I was surprised, too, but we've had a long-standing relationship with Liverpool, focused primarily on the so-called Slave Triangle: W Africa-Liverpool-Virginia. In 2003 and 2004 six of us from our Commission on Race Relations went to Liverpool at their bishop's invitation to provide some race reconciliation training to their clergy. At that time our program was considered a model--the national church's program had not yet been released.
