I imagine he's eager to settle down into his private humanitarian enterprises, like the cancer research.  Not a VP example, but if Bill can have his Clinton Foundation and World Initiative, let Joe have his whatever.  He's much older than when Bill left office, so he deserves to leave elected life behind, relax, and whoop some ass like only Joe can do.
