Thanks for the prayers, y'all.  He gave up at an appropriate time.  Even joined me for MSNBC while he ate his Weinerschnitzel (Left Coast, I'm pretty sure) chili dogs before preparing for bed and retiring just minutes ago.  He did show me a palm-sized motherboard that he says all he needs is a new SD card for and it would suffice as a temporary computer while the Big Problem gets analyzed.  Quite an advance, I'll admit.  At no time tonight did he wig out like he used to do when things went wrong with his "toys".  He's definitely matured, and approaches disappointment in a way I need to emulate.
