Should you be looking to find out just where all those old RR lines went, 
the USGS has online, for free, just about every topographic map they've ever 
made. You can find (& download) them all at 
http://ngmdb.usgs.gov/maps/TopoView/viewer/#4/40.00/-100.00. Mostly you'd be 
looking for the "62000"  or "24000" scale maps.
