[Magdalen] Clergy choice of funeral hymns

I think it was a t Bobby Kennedy's funeral that they sang "For All the
Saints."

I wrote a small fantasy in honor of a Green Beret, son of the associate
director of our group. I incorporated into it canons based on disguised
motifs from the Army Song, and at the end, an in-your-face setting of "The
Strife is O'er."

A terrific hymn for a funeral.

"Alleluia! Sing to Jesus!" (Hyfrydol)

"Amazing Grace"

"Morning has Broken"

"Praise, my soul, the King of Heaven" (words written in the bulletin,
including my favorite lines:
"Motherlike, She tends and spares us, well our feeble frame She knows, In
Her Arms She gently bears us, rescues us from all our foes. Alleluia!
Alleluia! Widely yet Her mercy flows!")

"My Shepherd will Supply my Need" ("...There would I find a settled rest
while others go and come, No more a stranger nor a guest, but like a child
at home." Nailed it!)

Of course, what funeral would be complete without "I am the Bread of Life."

I would love to have the Scottish chant of the Gloria for the 1940 Hymnal.
It's a wonderfully festive thing!

I would also like to have "The trumpet shall Sound" and "I know that my
Redeemer Liveth". I know those are not hymns, but I had to mention them.

As friends my age begin to pass on, this becomes more than an idle exercise.
