i said no!  a few points off for reflexively saying "i"m sorry" but
then i immediately said "oops: i promised myself i wouldn"t apologize"
and she said there"s no need to apologize and *she* gave a couple of
good reasons why i might not want to make the commitment: she was
highly positive about the committee"s high opinion of me but said they
understand

now to reboot this computer because the keyboard is verkakt
