The back side brought some amazing wind and gusting. We fared well. A
friend who lives on an old dairy farm...some cows still there now, sent a
video about midday of a limb falling off one of those grand oaks you see in
the South. The limb popped their electrical connection to the property and
caught the tree on fire. Then the wind blew roofs off two of their storage
sheds. In addition the wind blew most of the shingles off their house.
Have Mercy! They are fine, if they are without power and probaby will be
for a few days.
Edisto Beach caught a the brunt of storm surge. I don't know the extent of
the damage but I've seen photos of houses collapsed and their contents in
the street. Charleston streets flooded.
I have not be out...limbs still falling, even though the strom has passed
us. So, I don't know how much damage there is, but I can tell you that a
Cat 1/tropical storm does not hold a candle to 1989's Cat 4 Hurricane Hugo.
Thanks for your interest.
