This happened also to the priest my childhood parish called when I was in
my teens. After I had grown up and moved, his wife left him and, as my
mother put it, "ran of with the UW hockey coach". The bishop, who was *not*
+Hallock (of blessed memory) decided that Fr. Bob should no longer be at
the church. It was a blow to that parish from which it took them some time
to recover (that, and his successor, who, I am told, did things that caused
a major split in the parish from which they were only just recovering when
I visited n 2001). I am somewhat unclear s to what happened to Fr. Bob
after that. I was told that he left the active priesthood and remarried and
that he and his wife rehabbed and sold old houses.
