During last night's "debate" I was reading Ann Lamott's book "All New
People." From the comments I've read this morning, that was a good

I do not watch or participate in events in which I have a lot of emotional
involvement. This does include the US Presidential debates. I can
sometimes
quickly poke into the live discussions, but not for long as I feel my pulse
throbbing and hyperventilation begin.

After the debates I get all the information I need relatively stress free
by
watching the news networks summaries. For me this is usually NBC.

The same is true for my watching UW-Madison and Green Bay Packer
football games. My last live Badger game was such that I thought I would
die with the extra systoles.

And this Sunday the old archrival Chicago Bears play the Packers in
Green Bay, and given better control of my emotional overtime, I'd love to
see it. Chicago has always been a big rival for Wisconsin teams being
so close by. In the original version of "On Wisconsin," the Badger Song,
had the phrase, "Run the ball clear round Chicago." the only team in the
lyrics mentioned by name. Ironically UChicago gave up intercollegiate
sports in the 1940's.

In any case, a belated Hooray Hilary!
