Very sensible.  A cup with a narrower base will cool more quickly than a 
container with a cylindrical shape.  If offered a choice between a cup 
and a mug my response is always "a mug holds more". That is not greed so 
much as wanting to be at at my host's level rather than "the parson in 
the parlour with the best china".
