I am not so sure.

The law and the evidence are frequently ambiguous.  Prosecutors are often
motivated by factors that have little to do with justice.  And there is
often dispute over whether an alleged "offense" is serious or trivial.  Add
to these factors  the additional fact that having to engage in a legal
battle can be very expensive and damaging to  the psyche.   An innocent
person, therefore, is justified if he takes steps to reduce the possibility
of being "hauled into court".  Demanding immunity is such a step.

Then, too, a lot of Democrats "want" Flynn to be guilty, just as a lot of
Republicans "wanted" Clinton to be guilty.  And it is always easy to think
that the "other" are guilty of something or other.
