I used to sing the Exsultet regularly either at TEC Procathedral or
in one of the RC churches.  Frankly, I never have heard anyone do it  better
anywhere than sang it during my prime.  
 
When singing in the RCC, I always wore my Anglican choir surplice
with black cassock.  After one Vigil, I divested in the sacristy  and come
face to face with the assistant who was celebrant of the Vigil Mass.
Since I had done an especially impressive job chanting (IMHO) I  thought
I might hear something encouraging from the assistant.  Instead I got  a
rather disgusted sounding, "You looked like a mini-priest."
