I visited Galveston when I was stationed at Ft.Sam Houston in
San Antonio.  That was in 1966.
 
With the important "Houston Ship Canal," which makes Houston one
of the busiest ports in the USA, I wonder if storm surges are not
capable of flooding parts of Houston itself.
