[Magdalen] Prayer Request

This is a strange one, although it seems straightforward at first....but
it's a long story, and complicated.

The prayers are for Dee, a friend of my daughter and a sort of
other-daughter to me in past times, who has found herself unintentionally
pregnant. She was using birth control, but as we all know that stuff is not
100% foolproof, and by the time she figured out she was pregnant (and still
had been using birth control the whole time) it was too late for an
abortion, as far as she was concerned. Legally she could have done it, but
she didn't feel right about it.

Here's where it gets complicated. At first she thought about giving the
baby up for adoption, but now she's not sure. The baby's father is willing
to assume custody and has a strong network of family and friends, plus he
loves Dee very much. Dee is not sure how she feels about being a mom, and
here's why--she had been seriously addicted to drugs and alcohol for
several years, and last year she put herself in rehab several states away
from her home town. She has been clean and sober for almost a year and has
remained in the state where she went to rehab ever since. She's visiting my
daughter (seems like everyone comes to Betsy for advice and counsel!) this
week and Betsy says she looks wonderful and is quite sane, just a little
gobsmacked. Oh yeah, one other thing...Dee is 39. That complicates things a
little too. So prayers are needed all around, for a continued healthy
pregnancy, for a safe delivery, and for good decisions.
