The previous Dean of the Cathedral, just set to retire
when I arrived in Eau Claire in 1969, had bought a home
in Eau Claire, and when he retired, lived locally and
routinely began attending the 8 AM Low Mass at the 
Cathedral.
 
His Alzheimer's rapidly advanced, and he started 
presenting problems during the sermons of the new
Dean by shouting, "Lies!  Lies! You lie!
 
Eventually the Bishop had to intervene, and make
