I attended an evangelism conference at Saint Philip's Cathedral,
Atlanta years ago. Despite the large number of participants, who
pretty well filled this large church, all music events (and there were
a lot of them) were accompanied by "folk" groups, thumping and
twanging guitars and banjos. It was not only unpleasant music
basically (to me) but was woefully unable to support the singing of
such d large group in such a large building.

The ironic aspect of all this was that we sat in Saint Philip's looking
at the silent 100 rank+ pipe organ.

Toward the end of the week several of us persuaded the organizers
to "allow" the pipe organ to be played. The type of music wasn't
ideal for the organ, but still it was a lot better than the guitars.
