[Magdalen] R.I.P. Melinda Hanna

My old friend Melinda Hanna died yesterday evening, I knew it was imminent
as she had come home from Vanderbilt on hospice care, but not quite this
imminent. She was in liver and kidney failure and the doctors had told her
family there was nothing more they could do.
Pray for comfort for her daughter Allison, Allison's husband Tim and their
daughter Gracelyn.

Melinda and I met many years ago when she used to visit my next door
neighbor Mary. Allison was a toddler then, and she and my Adam, who was
just a couple of weeks younger, made friends through the chain link fence
between our yards. Soon he was going around the fence to play with her. A
couple of years later, Melinda and I were pregnant together, and her Joey
was born not long after my Betsy. The kids all went to school together but
kind of lost touch after high school, although I think Adam and Allison ran
into each other occasionally, as Melinda and I also did. Melinda had a fall
or something and damaged several discs in her back a number of years ago
and had been disabled ever since. She walked with a cane and had been
increasingly limited in her activity.
