From the sound of it, they pretty much had to take what the could get. Lots of performers of other kinds of music turned them down.

I had to put a new battery in my car this morning, which meant re-setting all the radio buttons. I caught what was literally the tail end of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir's performance.  When I turned the radio on later, it was after the speech.
