[Magdalen] A different sort of prayer request

Prayers, Grace. I'm getting really tired of the KKK and the alt-Reich. As
the first couple of verses in one of today's psalms said, "Rescue me, Lord,
from evildoers;
protect me from the violent
who devise evil plans in their hearts and stir up war every day.
"
Charlottesville takes itself a bit seriously and will probably not have the
attitude or warped sense of humor with which Newport, TN, up in the
foothills of the Smokies, met the KKK a few years back. Newport had elected
an African-American mayor, much to the surprise of some of its neighbors,
but he was a local businessman who was well-respected and liked by his
neighbors, who had grown up in the area and lived there all his life. The
KKK decided to hold a rally in Newport precisely because of this fine
gentleman being the mayor; apparently they thought some of the county folks
would join them. Not on your life! In fact, their rather puny rally had to
be guarded *from* the locals by sheriff's deputies and some THP
reinforcements because the locals took such exception to them and some were
armed, despite the mayor having asked them not to be. As one "good ol' boy"
rather crudely put it, "He may be a n*** but he's our n*** and ain't none
of them boys in bedsheets got any business here tellin' us how to run
things." They basically laughed the KKK out of town.
