[Magdalen] Ascensiontide?

I got to church last night for Evening Prayer and Mass, and the
ASCENSION card from the hymn board was on a table in the sacristy with
a yellow sticky on it on which was written, "The 10 days from
Ascension to Pentecost are Ascensiontide." Oh, really? I opened a BCP
to p. 32, and it still says it's Easter Season.

Didn't matter yesterday, as the hymn board said VISITATION at the top.
But in changing it for this morning's Morning Prayer officiant, I left
it blank for him or her to decide. And in general I thought it best to
ignore anonymous notes. I have no idea who left that note, and the
handwriting is definitely not that of our priest-in-charge. Someone
apparently feels we need a new season! I think an argument could be
made for one, but there's also the deal that Easter Season is 50 days,
not 40. A parish where the Paschal candle is burned only until
Ascension Day could probably do an (unofficial) Ascensiontide. We keep
it burnin,' as customary.
