I heard a re-run of an interview he'd given circa 1996
and was struck by the difference.

(I was, as usual, listening to the radio while waiting for the drawbridge.)

Twenty years ago he could actually utter a sentence with a clause.
And he had many more operative adjectives.  So many more.
