My saintly Latin teacher was a Lois, and as the song from
"Oklahoma" says, "She was round above as she was round
below."  Some wag had therefore dubbed her, "Low-ass."
 
Kids can be merciless.
 
And on the subject of regional names, I had two Hjalmer's and
an additional Bjorn in my high school graduating class (1955).
 
Hint:  The "h'" in Hjalmer is silent, but the  '"j" & "b" in  Bjorn are
