It's always a good thing when the congregation sings heartily.
I'll bet they have used this hymn often to learn to sing it that  well.
 
Since my family is either Methodist (father's side) or Lutheran
(Mother's side), family church events tend to raise the roof.
 
It isn't just the Lutherans who sing in Germany.  Roman  Catholics
sing just as well.  I often can't hear myself sing in these  locations,
and that is going some!
