>>>We haven’t even glimpsed the top yet.

Like most big issues that involve "the personal" (I find the term "social issues" unsatisfactory; all issues are ultimately "social" to some degree), my guess is that, no matter when the top is glimpsed, the pendulum will swing back to some sort of "normal". A better normal, though, I think, because you'd have to be Trump Moore to not learn at least some sort of lesson from all this. Luckily, in my career in public service I've always managed to be careful. Not perfect, but certainly careful. With the news filled with the daily toppling of icons (sic), I recently instructed Everett to live a life wherein he makes physical contact with no one, especially non-family, except when given express permission, and even then think thrice.
I've also apologised to him more than once for bringing him into a world of War Without End, and one in which he has yet to see politics actually work for the good of the People (in the of/by/for sense) in a long-term way. (He came of "rational age" when a man was found guilty of being president while black.)
PS: I also told him, I think last night, that if we ever find ourselves in the uncomfortably near future instantaneously evaporating into a warm, fuzzy, red glow of nothingness, ... to remember (if there's time) that his dad loves him.
