It was the age of our teachers, too.
My high school history teacher’s fiance was killed in the Battle of the
Somme.
That’s why I know lots about World War One.

But his brain was so loaded it nearly exploded.
The poor boy would shake with alarm.
He’d ne’er leave the girl with the strawberry curl,
and the band played on.
