The first lesson on Sept. 17 was a particularly long selection beginning at the 19th verse of the 14th chapter of Exodus. After the reading, if instead of saying "The Word of the Lord," the reader said "Here endeth the First Lesson," would the congregation automatically respond "Thanks be to God"?
