A vivid memory from 2nd grade  Catholic parish 1-8th grade school - learning about sin and end of life in such a state I asked about being in heaven without my parents, if that should be the case ( I guess I’ve always asked edgy questions) and I was told that I would be happy anyway. Sure didn’t make sense to me. 
(In ensuing years I’ve discovered that many nuns of an age to have been teaching in the ‘50s and ‘60s were happy to be out of their families of origin and in the convent - perhaps that may have colored their thinking?
