Congratulations!  Perhaps the best perk of being a federal employee is healthcare benefits.  If you’re credited with three years service, that also should mean you begin past the probationary time when you can be terminated without cause, which means job security.

While a shutdown seems a near certainty, you will ultimately get paid for the period.  OTOH, IT personnel are often considered exempt, which means you will work for free during that time.
