[Magdalen] Visiting New York

Hello pub.

I've been subscribed but haven’t had much spare energy for this list or much other communication for a while. Some of you have seen some of my trials on Facebook, which often ends up being the one place I can keep up with people when everything else feels too overwhelming.

2017 was a mixed year for me. My depression became barely manageable, my cat died, I ceased my IT consulting work, and went on unemployment benefits as a temporarily disabled person.

Then I got a new cat, and got accepted into a PhD program at the University of Divinity (Australia's only specialist theological university, the former Melbourne College of Divinity). Like most Australian PhD programs, this is by dissertation only: a study of LGBTIQ Christian autobiography as a genre and as a form of practical theology.

Now, ten years after my previous visit to North America, I am once again travelling with the World Student Christian Federation, as part of a delegation of faith-based organisations to the UN Commission on the Status of Women, in March. I expect I will be in meetings/talks most of the time, but will hopefully have a bit of time to look around New York again. If I had only one afternoon to myself, what do you recommend I do or see? And any recommendations for a relaxed Anglo-Catholic parish?
