[Magdalen] Ice and Snow along GA & SC

This is the time of the year when evergreen conifers really show off.  It's amazing that there is
not more damage to these trees with heavy snow.  The western USA conifers have reacted to
this threat by evolving a more narrow habit than their eastern USA cousins.  For example, the
Western White Pine (Pinus monticola is very similar to the Eastern White Pine (Pinus strobus)
except for the former has a much more slender outline.

Yes! The magic of the large flakes softly falling amid total silence. In
the morning, if the smow is wet, we have a fairy land of trees all covered
