[Magdalen] Another surgery update

Surgery on my eye at Dartmouth-Hitchcock on Thursday went well. My outpatient appt. was for 11AM, they took me in around 11:10, and it was all done before 1. I was only sedated with versed, which didn’t feel much like sedation. So I was completely awake throughout the whole thing. Fortunately my eye was either very dilated or there were so many drops in it I couldn’t see clearly what was going on. More details would likely be TMI.

I had to wear a patch over my left eye until the follow-up visit the next day. I have amblyopia and my left eye (with the patch) is the good one. With my right eye I can see well enough to dress & feed myself, etc., but not well enough to read. So no books, internet, smartphones or email for a whole day! I can watch TV somewhat, but that’s about it. So no update until now.

The patch came off yesterday afternoon and all seems to be well. Eyesight in my left eye right now is only  very slightly worse than before (it should completely recover). The eye is, unfortunately, very red and quite itchy from the itty-bitty sutures, and I have strict instructions not to rub my eye. I’m really hoping this itchiness will go away soon as it’s quite annoying. I have steroid & antibiotic eye drops to take 4X/day – the steroid (prednisolone) does help the itchiness.

No biopsy report as yet. I’m all cleared for normal activities, including driving. Thanks for all your support & prayers.
