I think voting by absentee ballot is a wise decision.
We’ve both done it when travel was scheduled near an election.

You shouldn’t need your birth certificate.
And remember the powerful phrase
“Returning U.S. citizen.”
Smile, say the magic phrase, hand the passport to the nice officer.

Every time I grouse about politics,
the gf reminds me.
She says:
“People die every day trying to get here,
trying to secure the rights you were born with.”
