[Magdalen] Another "small world" moment.

An "in my own backyard" moment, actually. I know I frequently mention such things, but that's only because, to the best of my knowledge, there's only three of us here in CA (if others, shout out, please), and one of those is in the state capitol (hey Mr Crawford) and the other one in So Cal, the other state capitol (sic; hey Mr Carr). I'm here in the Salad Bowl, and other than the occasional Food Network personality visiting our ag fields or that fella at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey who frequently shows up on MSNBC, we generally, national news-wise, feel like a proverbial hole in the wall. But today was a wee bit different.
I was watching the MSNBC 3:00 pm repeat of Meet the Press (live 9 am ET, 6 am PT), and Chuck introduced Richard Engel, "stopping along the road" to do a brief segment, and clearly announcing he was in Seaside, CA (between Marina on the south and Monterey on the north). It was definitely between 6 and 7, but my doodness if I didn't recognise the exact spot he was standing in, between the Embassy Suites and Roberts Lake, with Hwy 1 (Pacific Coast Hwy) and the sand dunes behind, with obviously the Pacific Ocean beyond that. He was just in South America on Friday. I wonder where he was heading to. Had I been awake at 6 am, I might have hopped in the car and headed over to where he was at for an autograph. Well, no, I wouldn't have. But the thought is nice.
